Throwback Thursday

Total BMX. The NBL’s answer to BMX Action, was a short lived BMX magazine in the early 1980’s that covered mainly east coast BMX. Which had a hard time getting in the Cali based mags.

This little excerpt is from an issue showing a big race that went down in of all places, Philadelphia. Indoors and crazy with those wooden tabletops, a far cry from the ramps we build today. Also of note in this photo: Mat Harris and Rich Farside who would go on to ride for Huffy and Diamond Back and have huge careers back then.

The golden age of BMX in the North East.

For more BMX and brittle crazines pick up my book, “The Average BMXer” available on Kindle, and on Lulu.com in e-pub and Hardcover form.
