Throwback Thursday

Full uniforms were just the absolute BEST when it was super hot in the summer in NJ with 100% humidity. Yea it looked sorta cool back then, but realistically, it just did not fit how we rode 99% of the time.

Our styles were all unique and homogenized race uniforms did not cut it. But anyway, here is a miami hopper, circa late 86-87 in Hillsborough, NJ.

For more BMX and brittle crazines pick up my book, “The Average BMXer” available on Kindle, and on Lulu.com in e-pub and Hardcover form.

By 1989 the idea of a wedge ramp as a show ramp had disappeared. The only thing I could come up with that sort of replicated what we were doing at the time was a launch, and grind box with wedge attached. Stone age street. Somewhere in the midwest in the summer of 89. In the air is Sean Leslie who would go on to tour with GT and Mirra…
Yours nuttily at the 1985 AFA Masters Finals in New Hampshire. Pretty sure I got dead last in expert ramp there. Anyway. This is Dan Menapace’s awesome kick turn ramp that he built which we trucked up to NH along with our new 1/4 for the weekend. Great times in the stone age of BMX freestyle. @oldschoolbmxtv
